French Writing Workshop

Learnlink Conference: atelier d’écriture

For more information about location, please contact Professor Lilia Coropceanu

Each semester, a member of the Emory French Department will be designated as Writing Associate to help students in French 313 and higher to improve their written expression in French. In most cases, you will have the opportunity, in consultation with your professor, to revise and resubmit your work for a possible adjustment in grade.

Please note that this service is available only for papers that have already been graded for content. This is necessary to avoid any possible violation of the Emory Honor Code. In addition, you must revise your paper according to your professor’s comments prior to your appointment. The writing associate will then assist you in correcting grammar and vocabulary. In order to be seen, you will need to provide two versions of your paper: (1) The copy that has been graded by your professor; and (2) A revised version of your graded paper.

Instructions and announcements regarding the French Writing Workshop are posted in the Learnlink conference “atelier d’écriture,” which can be added to your Learnlink desktop.

Appointment procedure
1. Schedule an appointment directly through the “atelier d’écriture” conference, where you will find weekly sign-up lists.
2. Drop off the two copies of your paper requested above (graded + revised) in the box on the door of the Writing Associate for review by 4pm the day before your scheduled appointment.
3. Arrive for your appointment with a clear idea of priorities for your paper, including any questions you would like to discuss. The most important problem areas should be worked on first since each appointment will be limited to 20 minutes.

Office hours will be posted on Learnlink and will also be available upon appointment for those who are unable to attend during the posted times.

Please remember that the days around midterms and finals will be very busy. While additional hours will be added, make your appointment as early as possible to guarantee a time.

Bonne écriture!
